If your knit cuffs are frayed and you want to mend without stretching it out or just replacing the cuff, reverse the fold inwards and ladder stitch it, matching up the knit ribs and run your needle on the inside picking once on each side with general purpose poly thread. Pull in only until stitches are hidden not too tight! Double needle can be used instead with stretch yarn. Heres a picture demonstrating this. You should stich both curls all the way around for uniformity. And any running/ laddering of the knit should be darned before enclosed stitching of the cuff edges.
