This was such a fun project for a client...5 garters and 2 ring pillows made from grandmother's wedding dress for the grandchildren...thinking ahead because they are all under 10. I left them all simple so additional embellishments could be added by each child later.

A foreign language in a sewing class? No, but reading a pattern can be frightening and confusing. Instructions are on every bit of white space of the pattern..front and back of the envelope, on the inside tissue paper patterns..I'm surprised instructions aren't on the inside of the envelope. So, in addition to our "Make Friends with your Sewing Machine" we've added "Make Friends with your patterns" on Tuesday afternoons.

First class at 18 Tulip Street. Linda and Bette finished their first of four heart triangles and yes, they have homework before the next class! Their comments were it was quieter here and more personal attention than the previous location. Lots more fun!

Just found this mahogany sewing table with the "Free Westinghouse" machine in it. J***y is cleaning up table and I can't wait to check out this machine when I get it cleaned. Stop in and see how it looks.

Join us on Thursday or Friday this week, April 23 and 24, from 1-4 to participate in the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. It is school vacation so this event is fun for all ages and any pillowcases will be donated to a local charity of your choice. The Sew What group at the after-school program at Lyndon Town School learned the technique and will be doing this Challenge in May.

Just finished a five week session at the after-school program at Lyndon Town School. Even though I taught before, a one-hour program with varying attendance, offers challenges. But, 4 out of 9 finished at least one of their projects...laptop cover and sling bag... and did a great job...they have all decided they can sew on a button now.

And who says teenagers don't like to sew...just finished a series of four classes with 4 Lyndon Institute students...they became familiar with their sewing machine (and seam rippers), and finished pillowcases and bib aprons. Great group!

If you are setting up your sewing room, have yards of fabric to store, and not much room, pick up foam noodles, cut into 2 pieces, and wind the fabric. No more fold creases and easy to store upright or lay down.

Join us on 9/13 for the Peekaboo Bag class...it's fun coming up with the combination of fabric when you only want a bit of the inner fabric to show.
