✨ Hi everyone! I thought while the shop is closed this week, I'd take a minute to introduce myself to those who may not know me!

I'm Catherine Peterman, the owner and face behind The Butler Boutique. ❤️

I was born and raised right here in Butler and graduated from Butler High School. After graduation, I joined the United States Air Force, where I proudly served for six years. In 2017, I suffered a back injury that changed the path I thought my life would take. It was a difficult time, but it also led me to discover a new passion.

I've always been creative and have loved working with my hands. I'm the type of person who sees something and immediately thinks, "I wonder if I could make that?" 😊

In 2022, I took a leap of faith and started The Butler Boutique from my basement. What began as a small dream quickly grew into something much bigger. Before long, our house was overflowing with shirts, tumblers, supplies, and everything in between! That's when I realized it was time for the next chapter.

In March 2026, I opened the doors to my very own storefront, and it's been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Today, The Butler Boutique is home to unique gifts, apparel, accessories, and products from several amazing local small businesses. I specialize in custom apparel, promotional products for businesses and organizations, and wholesale items for other small businesses to carry in their own shops.

None of this would be possible without all of you. Every purchase, every share, every kind word, and every recommendation has helped turn a dream that started in my basement into something I get to live every single day.

From the bottom of my heart... thank you for supporting my small business, shopping local, and believing in me. It truly means more than you'll ever know. ❤️

A Little Time to Recharge ❤️

Unfortunately, due to not having the extra help I need, The Butler Boutique will be closed on Wednesday, July 15th, and Thursday, July 16th so I can take a couple of days to rest and reset.

As many of you know, being a small business owner often means wearing all the hats. It can be difficult to step away because the business depends so heavily on you. After a lot of thought, I've decided it's important to take a short break for some much-needed mental clarity and relaxation.

My hope is to come back refreshed, recharged, and ready to start preparing for several exciting upcoming events and projects!

Thank you all for your understanding, your patience, and for continuing to support my small business. It truly means more than you know. 🫶

A few weeks ago, I had someone reach out to order shirts for their child's first birthday party.

To make sure everything would be ready on time, I ordered the supplies and prepared the designs before receiving full payment because I was told the remaining balance would be paid when their husband got paid that Friday. Looking back, that was a mistake on my part, but I wanted to help.

When pickup day came, they were only able to pay for half of the order. My heart went out to them because every child deserves to have their first birthday celebrated. I made the decision to press the remaining two shirts anyway with the understanding that the balance would be paid within a few days. They agreed, thanked me, and took the shirts.

Unfortunately, that payment never came.

Since then, I've reached out multiple times, sent reminders, extended deadlines, and even explained that a late fee would be added if the balance wasn't paid by a certain date. Each time I've been promised that payment would be made online or that they would stop in, but those promises have never been kept.

As a small business owner, this is incredibly discouraging. When a balance isn't paid, it doesn't just hurt a business—it hurts the person behind it. Every shirt represents my time, my materials, and money that comes directly out of my pocket before I ever see a profit. That money helps support both my business and my family.

Yes, the remaining balance is only $40, but this isn't about the dollar amount. It's about respecting someone's work, keeping your word, and understanding that small businesses simply can't absorb losses like large corporations can.

I will continue to lead with kindness because that's who I am, but situations like this make it much harder to say "yes" the next time someone asks me for a little grace.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Butler Boutique, pays their invoices on time, and understands the value of shopping small. It truly means more than you know. ❤️
