Did you Know that Lewis Howard Latimer,
Sept. 4,1848 - Dec. 11,1928, Was an American Inventor with 8 U.S. Patents under his belt. His Mother and Father escaped from Slavery in Virginia and ended up in Chelsea, Massachusetts where Lewis was born. He received his first Patent ( along with Charles Brown) for his "Improvement in water-closets for railroad cars",( Train car toilets), U.S Patent #147,363 in 1874. He is mostly known for is work with Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison and his Patents for the Electric Light Bulbs( Electric Lamp, U.S. Patent 247,097(1881),U.S patent 152,386 (1882) and U.S patent 255,212(1882). He also had a U.S patent for the Improvement of the Air Conditioner, " Apparatus for cooling and Disinfecting" #334,078.
While working for The Edison Light Company in New York He wrote the First book on Electric Lighting called ' Incandescent Electric Lighting ' in 1890. Latimer was inducted into The National Inventors Hall of Frame and his home was Moved from its Original location to a small Park in Flushing, Queens and turned into The Lewis H. Latimer House Museum.
