After much prayer, thought, and emotion, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the doors of our bookstore after one wonderful year of serving the reading community of Madison, Indiana.
This past year has been more special than we could have ever imagined. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting two sisters and a dream. We have loved every conversation, every recommendation shared, every book club gathering, and every person who walked through our doors. It has meant the world to us to meet visitors from Madison and from so many different states who traveled to shop our little store.
While this decision was not easy, this season of life is asking something different of us. Between the two of us, we are full-time moms to little boys, and one of us is also a full-time teacher. At this time, we simply cannot dedicate the hours and energy needed to keep the bookstore open in the way this community deserves.
Please know:
-We will still be honoring and fulfilling all orders that have already been placed.
-We will still be hosting one final book club at the end of May.
-And for this final month, we would absolutely love to see you all come out one last time. Bring your friends, shop the store, browse the shelves, and help us celebrate this beautiful journey together as we say goodbye.
We wholeheartedly believe this dream of bringing a bookstore to Madison was placed on our hearts for a reason. Even though this may not be the right time in our lives to continue this journey, we truly never know what the future may hold. Maybe one day we will revisit this dream again.
But for now, we are choosing to focus on our little boys and the joy these precious years of motherhood bring to our lives.
The Bookish Sisters will be closing on Friday, June 12th.
