It’s been a long time…. My sewing studio has been silent much of the last two years. But these special little slippers lit a spark and offered me a chance to find joy in my needle & thread again. These cuties are made for a dear repeat customer that I make slippers for each new grandchildren that enters her life…. Made from favorite sweaters and clothing of her late mother.

Taking a season off from making slippers made me not order the massive amount of 1/4” elastic I normally have... I’m regretting that now!
Elastic is in short supply now and it got real last night....I had to clip some elastic from pairs of unsold Polliwogs to finish some fabric masks up. Hoping all of you are doing ok out there... thinking of all of you in these strange times. Love to you all!

I know I’m supposed to be taking a break... but my little one lady sweatshop is still chugging along finishing up customs. These made me smile this morning and thought they’d give some of you a smile too.

This October quietly marked the 12th anniversary of me selling Polliwogs. It also marked the month of decision making for my teeny little business.
The cupcake slippers picture here brought me right back to 12 years ago.... 12 Octobers ago I had an almost two year old and another baby on the way. 12 years ago I made my daughter her favorite pair of Thanksgiving turkey Polliwogs for her tiny little toes and a pair of newborn slippers for her brother or sister coming! This pair of matching cupcake slippers is for an almost three year old and her baby sister coming soon. They put me back into that space of making the two pairs for my own two little people.
How fast the time has gone and how quickly I lost track of how many Polliwogs I have made over the years or how many times I have wanted to slip a pair of slippers on a random baby when I see them slipper-less.
I have decided to take a break this winter from sewing slippers.... even though I’ve filled several custom orders already this month! I’m sure it’s not forever.... I can’t seem to stop sewing them even though I’ve tried. They are part of me.
So, thank you to all those that have come back year after year and bought my little eco-friendly creations. I’ve loved every pair I have made and still do. ❤️ this isn’t goodbye... just hitting pause for awhile!

Fairy Florals for little newborn on the way

I’ve been quiet round here.... taking a break from sewing Polliwogs. But get a request every now and then I can’t resist ❤️ Like using this super soft upcycled cashmere to make a pair of newborn Polliwogs... They are complete with scrap leather suede for the soles in the prettiest shade of aqua.
