A great afternoon at the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center , in the field with Dr. Snowden and her team testing new cultivars with us here in , including two new varieties new to our region (King Gee 2 and Woongarra).

These trials feed straight into our Louisiana Producer Program: regionally selected cultivars, guaranteed purchase, proven genetics in growers’ hands for 2026 & 2027. Plant with a contract already in place.

From legislative planning to cultivar data to upcoming collaboration with Southern’s engineering program, the path forward is taking shape. Louisiana is building to lead on industrial h**p.

At the USDA lab today with researchers from Michigan and Purdue, plus Ryan from CannAbsorb and Wayne (USDA), talking fiber testing, retting, and future collaborations.

This is where claims get replaced by data. Those bundles run from green and unretted to perfectly golden to over-retted, and every gram of fiber and hurd gets weighed and logged. The unglamorous work that turns a crop into a building material.
