My Story:
I am a grateful cancer survivor, in the summer of 2009 I was diagnosed with
Breast Cancer. I was lucky, it was caught early, but the unknown was very scary. Like many of my fellow survivors, there were many tests, scans and doctors visits. During the year that followed I had numerous surgeries, more tests, chemotherapy and radiation. During my treatment I continued to work as a Scho
ol Counselor and function the best I could as a wife and mother of 3 teenage girls. While I was sick my oldest went off to college, my middle daughter went on a trip to Israel and I continued with all of my commitments and activities. However, during this time it was very important to me to try to continue to look good. I have always loved clothes and accessories. During treatment I lost all my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows, but I was determined to stay positive. Although I bought a wig, I didn't wear it often. I wore scarves and jewelry and matched them to my outfits. I walked with my head held high and received compliments from many people who didn't know I was sick. This is a difficult and frightening time, and it is important to feel good about yourself. I tried to feel the best I could by putting myself together and experimenting with different looks and colors. This is how CHEMOCESSORIES was born. Chemocessories creates personalized sets of accessories, including jewelry, scarves and turbans, that are designed to lift spirits and to remind each woman that treatment in no way diminishes the beautiful woman within.
