🦃 10 DAYS UNTIL THE TURKEY TROT PRICE JUMP! 🦃

It's Thursday, so it's Race Ready! We're just 10 days away from the Sunday, Nov 8 price jump for the 11th Annual MHK Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving morning. Whether you're chasing a PR or trotting with family and friends before the big meal, every registration supports the Flint Hills Breadbasket and every finisher earns a medal! 🧡

📍 Aggieville
📅 Thursday, Nov 26 (Thanksgiving Day)
⏰ 9:00 AM
👟 Register by Nov 8 before the price jump!
📦 Packet pickup at MRC: Nov 24 (10 AM–7 PM) & Nov 25 (10 AM–5 PM)

🏁 5K PACING TIP: Don't let the starting-horn excitement pull you out too fast in the first half mile! Settle into your goal pace on Mile 1 around City Park, lock into a steady rhythm through Mile 2, and save your kick for the fast flat stretch down Poyntz to the finish. ✅

⚡ DON'T RUN ON EMPTY! ⚡

It's Wednesday, so it's Fuel Tip! Whether you're heading out before sunrise or logging miles after work in the dark, a quick pre-run snack 30–60 minutes before you lace up makes a big difference in how your legs feel. 🧡

⏱️ Aim for 25–40g of simple, easy-to-digest carbs 30–60 minutes before your run
🥨 Keep fiber and fat low right before you head out so it sits well on your stomach
🌅 Early morning run? Grab a Honey Stinger Waffle, a Maurten or GU gel, or a few energy chews with water
🌇 Running after work? Top off around 4:00 PM so you aren't starting your 5:30 PM miles on lunch alone
💧 Sip fluids with electrolytes (like Skratch or Tailwind) so you start hydrated

We've got Honey Stinger waffles and chews, Maurten, GU, Bonk Breaker, SaltStick, Skratch and Tailwind stocked in store at 1129 Garden Way and at the link in bio!

Come grab your favorite fuel, see you at the store! 👋

🔦 GOOD TO KNOW: BE SEEN AFTER DARK! 🔦

Clocks fall back next Sunday, Nov 1, and the sun will set around 5:25 PM here in Manhattan. If you run after work, here's how to stay safe out there:

💡 Light up front and back: a headlamp or chest light ahead, a blinking red light behind
✨ Reflect where you move: ankles, wrists and shoes catch headlights best
🚗 Run against traffic: no sidewalk? Face oncoming cars
🎧 One earbud (or none) so you can hear cars, bikes and dogs

Then put it into practice at our Safety Run on Tue, Nov 10 at 5:30 PM from the store, for National Runners Safety Month! Wear your reflective gear, bring a light, and try on the New Balance 1080. No RSVP needed, just show up! See you there! 👋

🙌 No gloves needed today
🩳 Shorts, skort or capris
🧦 Thin moisture-wicking socks + your daily trainer

👟 ITZY'S PICK: THE NEW BALANCE ELLIPSE! 👟

It's Friday, so it's Staff Picks! Itzy's favorite shoe right now is the New Balance Ellipse. 🧡

It's got the Fresh Foam feel the old 1080 used to have, and it's a great all-around shoe for daily miles and walking around class. It's also one of the best-looking shoes on our wall, and it comes in a bunch of different colors. All for $145.

Come in and try a pair on. Details at the link in bio 🔗 See you at the store! 👋
