BREAKING: MAGICAL THINKING — Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize dreams take another hit after BIZARRE Ukraine remarks.
The man who is completely convinced that he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize had the chance to expound today on the war that Russia imposed upon Ukraine, and let’s just say that he’d better not hold his breath while waiting for any recognition as a negotiator or mediator of peace.
As he faced a gaggle of reporters outside the White House today, Trump was asked what he thought about Russia already violating the cease-fire that Donnie insisted that both countries had agreed to. The cease-fire was Trump’s attempt to rescue Russian oil refineries from Ukrainian attacks and look like he’s doing something to help lower the Iran War-inspired U.S. oil prices that threaten to derail his congressional majorities. He immediately denied the premise of the question,
“Well, I'm not sure about that, and we’ll take a look,” Trump responded. “But all I know is that Zelenskyy and Putin have to get together and end that ridiculous war. This month they lost 32 thousand people in that war. It’s ridiculous, so they have to get together and get it done.”
One tenacious reporter had the nerve to question whether either country had actually agreed to a cease-fire as Trump had reported, especially since both sides have said that they haven’t agreed to anything. Trump came back with his version of magical thinking or wish fulfillment or whatever he calls it when he imagines something will happen just because he says it will.
“Well, they agreed, you know why? Because I said 'you agree.' That's why,” he said petulantly. “They agreed because I said they agree. And that thing has to get settled. That war is a disaster.” If only Trump would recognize his own disastrous war with Iran as something that has to end immediately.
Unfortunately, in his subsequent answers to reporters’ questions, Trump made it quite clear who’s side he’s really on in this Putin-manufactured conflict. The morning after Russia launched a series of deadly missile attacks on Ukraine, Trump insisted that both sides were violating the ceasefire and that Zelensky was the obstacle to ending the war, in the kind of topsy-turvy analysis that defies all reason. “I think Putin wants to make a deal more than Zelenskyy,” he opined, inadvertently exposing who he thinks is actually winning this war.
No wonder why he suddenly decided to lift restrictions on importing Russian oil that were put in place by Congress to sanction Russia for their invasion of a sovereign nation. Trump thinks Putin is going to lose, and he has to help out his buddy Vlad before all that kompromat Russia’s intelligence services are rumored to be holding over his head is released.
Trump’s simple-minded take on the conflict in Ukraine just adds further confirmation to the impression that this is a man so far out of his depth that no seaborne drone will be able to rescue him.
