New WIP - only halfway done, but already loving the movement it’s creating.

Materials are a mix of limited new, vintage estate sale finds, recycled materials and leftover materials from older projects. I love finding uses for bits of yarn that may otherwise sit in a drawer forever.

Cozy, rainy weekend at the coast was the perfect time to try making something totally new!

The song “Black Bird” by the Beatles has a special meaning in our family. It was a song my mom sang to me when I was a baby. The song I walked down the aisle to when marrying my husband. The song I sing to my two boys every night before bed.

I wanted to create something that represented these three life stages the song has had an impact on in my life — touching on how it holds a special place inside and how it manifests outward.

Not surprised it wasn’t available on here - but y’all know it ❤️

knew exactly how I wanted the main part of this weaving to look, and while it was a slow ex*****on, I followed the plan and got it done.

The tail on the other hand … I completed, tore it out and re-did it FOUR TIMES. Ripping your work apart is much faster than making it, but doesn’t have the same fulfillment 🫣

But if something doesn’t feel right at the end I remind myself how many months I spent on the rest of it — and ending it correctly (however subjective that is) is honoring that time, energy, care and the zillion audiobooks and podcasts I listened to along the way 😉
