So many new friends here and we thought we should share a little Sandpiper history…
Meet Freddie
“MOM” to us, and those who have been a part of the Sandpiper family through out the years
Freddie opened the Sandpiper in 1971 in the Florida Keys.
Many have said she brought high fashion to the islands with multiple locations between Ocean Reef and Marathon.
The Marco Island location was opened in 1987 and has been in the same location in the Town Center ever since.
(Hence why we refer to it as a Marco Icon)
She loved the shops and working the store.
She would pull up to the Marco store and back in that big white van. And our customers knew what that meant:
She was hand delivering fresh new merchandise!
She had a true passion for finding new brands in their beginning years and growing with them. Many we still carry today.
In and out of the store she loved to welcome you in with sweets and treats. If you’ve been around a while you remember the key lime cookies on each counter. And always, a comfy chair for your non shopping counterpart to sit.
Each September we celebrate her on her birthday and we invite you to join us this year. Stay tuned for the September Celebration at the Sandpiper
