There’s still a ton of great displays, jewelry, antiques, gifts and clothing left to discover in store, so we are considering opening again next Friday and Saturday. Can do longer hours as well. Over the last 10 years I’ve spent collecting great displays and props and there is still an abundance of cool pieces that I can bring back to Blackbird and I’d love nothing more than to do one last hoorah and have it ALL available for you to check out. Thoughts?! I’m also having a hard time saying Bye to my amazing community. Even though I’m not leaving Marquette, closing the shop has been heavier than I ever imagined. 😢 🤍

After a little over 9 years in business, Blackbird North is closing at the end of August. This has been a truly amazing journey and I can’t thank you all enough. As many of you in this community have probably heard, my mother, Kim Amthor, passed away a couple weeks ago. It was a complete shock and I’m devastated. She was the brightest light in my life and I am lucky to have had such a wonderfully close relationship with her. We had been through our share of losses and tragedies together and her resiliency, strength, integrity, compassion, curiosity, creativity and the way she always could find some humor- even through the toughest s**t life throws at you - amazed and inspired me. Losing both my father and sister when I was younger, it seemed like no way can something so terrible and unexpected happen like this again. I’ve always been private with my life, so this is hard to put out there, but I am feeling the need to step back and begin a new chapter, whatever that will be… I am not sure yet. The thought of closing has been on my mind the past few months and so this was something I was already considering, but now I know it is absolutely the right thing for me to do. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I hope that my little shop brought you joy. It was my goal to inspire, encourage and empower the feminine spirit and to be a happy and safe place for anyone and everyone.
