This morning, my good friend lead a meditation during opening weekend at the one and only .society , created by another powerhouse, entrepreneur + friend, .kate.shea
It was a rum full of women showing up for themselves, for each other, and for something bigger than productivity or performance, you could feel it.
During the meditation, Nilda said something that hit my heart, “motherhood is community “. The older I get, the more I see motherhood is something far bigger than the way we’ve been taught to define it.
Motherhood is Kerre. It’s presence. It’s protection. It’s women looking out for one another. Holding each other up through hard seasons. Sharing wisdom. Softening life a little for the people around them.
Motherhood lives in friendship. In sisterhood. In community. To me, that is the matriarchy.
Not power over. Not perfection. But women creating spaces to feel seen, supported, safe, encouraged, and loved.
The friend who checks in. The woman who reminds you who you are. The woman who quietly carry others through moments they may never fully understand the weight of.
That kind of care matters. Just as much as a mother‘s love. It shapes people. It changes people.
So today, I’m thinking about the women who have Mothered me throughout my life, simply through the way they’ve shown up.
We all have them. The women who held you together along the way. I know you can name them. Send this to them and let them know that you cherish their existence and love.
Special thanks to Nilda and Sarah for holding space for us so beautifully this this morning. I love you, ladies. 🩷🩷
And of course big love to my babies who made me a Mother. I love you so.
Happy Mother’s Day to all-
XOXO-Amelia 🩷
