Rosé raspberry sorbet floats, French macrons, and 20% off the WHOLE STORE if you come in wearing stripes. Grab a friend and let’s get cute, okay? Cafe table and cookbooks on the sidewalk for sitting. Might put the record player and Edith Piaf out there too if I can find an extension cord…

First day back for me, come help me with my vacation re-entry, okay? You need a basket for the farmers market/beach/weekend away, yeah?

July things.

We reopen tomorrow, so if you’ve been waiting or wanting to pop in, treat yourself to a little 15% off your whole purchase Thursday only. My way of saying I missed you! I personally won’t be back until Sunday for our Bastille Day Bash happening July 11-14, but you can bet your bottom I’ll be making a treat out of that return too. So come party with us. I might bring back Frosé floats this weekend. Yes? Oui.

I am guilty of (misguidedly) believing rest needs to be earned, despite all my “soft animal of your body” proselytizing. For that, I will say— as I have always said— that people deliver to the curated internet the medicine that they most need. There, I have confessed.

I like to be of service. I do. And I am also thankful that my servicing includes things that are joyful and grounded and creative. I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn’t sorted that out for myself. What would life be without all these pretty pressure valve releases?

I am sorry to be closed. Small business, short staffed, all that. But this is my 10th summer so I’ve got some data to look at and I promise it was a calculated inconvenience— this the slowest week of the year for us typically.

I wish I could devour books at home the way I can on this kind of vacation. Too much to do, to hold. Here? Book a day, AND time to swim and paint and pick blueberries and meander round the woods, sing to my senior dog, love on my love, forage for good sticks, get some deep chats in, watch the hummingbirds, NAP (during the day?! How thrilling) and in general be a curious, unbound, puttering person. The novelty.

We reopen on Thursday, friends. With lots and lots of new, high summer goods for you whether you’re practiced in your languor or the aspiring R&R type.

Hate fireworks, 4547, capitalism, patriarchy, and all systems of exploitation, and I can STILL have love for the idea of this country, even if in 250 years we still haven’t totally figured out universal suffrage, intersectionality, and civil rights. Just means there’s more to do?

It’s called cognitive dissonance, people.

What a time.

Sinking all the way in to a 90s Time Machine of a place, and so thankful for it. It’s giving democracy.

Everyone is looking to cool off at Kind Goods today. Peep this baby bird looking right at home amongst the extensive stick collection. We are choosing to take this as a sign that our commitment to natural materials is wildlife approved.

(Bird was safely assisted back outside after her photo shoot with Kerry).

I know what draws my eye in, what my perspective is, how my gaze shifts. And smartphones have made photographers out of all of us, no? But I’m always interested in knowing the same of the people around me while I point my lens to the sky, the trees, the small details and everyday textures.

This is partly a post about my little pairings, and wanting more photo references that are not my phone, and partly about this cute little half frame 35mm film camera that I got for our summer adventuring. I’m hoping my darling wants to spend the sweet months trading it frame by frame and then having a stack of real photos, made by our eyes from a viewfinder with no editing capabilities. (Imagine!)

Swapping THE cloud, for the CLOUDS this season. You? I want to hold some memories in my human hand, you know?

You know what? I don’t really care if you buy something when you come in. Yes, I want to chit chat if you want to chit chat. More than that, i want to know what’s good, what’s important to you, how you’re keeping that pretty head of yours high.

Not as a sales tactic. Not as a gimmick. Because caring about people who care about people is (and always has been) our Maine jam.

See what I did there?

Happy Friday, lovers. If you’re headed out of town this blueberry rhubarb situation is what I’d want to wake up to while drinking coffee and looking out onto the ocean.

Come work for me. Sundays and Mondays to start. I am NOT looking for summer only help if I can avoid it. Why? The (shhhh, sorry, context) (((holidays))) require as few bumps as possible because they are mission critical for us to stay strong and health as a small business for the rest of the year. You know what absolutely is my worst nightmare? Having staffing swings in December. I want a beautiful, seasoned, confident soul sailing into the last quarter of the year.

That said, I really need another rock solid part timer to take the edge off managing a complicated life, a home, AND two businesses (yes, is its own business.)

Please? We like folks who are:

DEPENDABLE
Self governable
Creative
Thoughtful
Looks great in stripes
Wants to water flowers and shine the mirrors and fluff the displays and vacuum the rugs in between top notch— but RELAXED AND NATURAL— customer care.

It’s a low key, high touch environment and I just know there’s a person out there who wants to be a happy host to my pride and joy. 18+ only. Because I need to be able to leave you alone, ya know?
