Thank you to Christina Hilber, Modern Woodmen of America, Marsh Area Chamber of Commerce and so many other great neighbors.

Thanks to Christina and Modern Woodmen, we were able to deliver donuts, cheese + meat tray, fruit and Gatorade to the Police/Fire Department and to Horicon DPW as a small thankful for the relentless effort they’re putting in to clean up and take care of the community.

We were also able to drop off gift cards at city hall for supplies, gas and food for displaced residents.

Horicon friends: Are you affected by the storm yesterday and need assistance? Let me know. I have the volunteer base to help you clean up.

If you’re displaced, let us know and we will help with clothes, groceries and gas.

I’m really struggling with processing my emotions of what happened to Horicon yesterday. You all know how much history, downtown, small businesses and community means to me. I’m absolutely heartbroken knowing how much the community is hurting right now. ❤️‍🩹

The realization that life and what we know can look completely different in a matter of seconds…. and now we wake up to another forecast that has the potential to be worse. It’s a gut punch.

So today, here’s your checklist:
- Keep your phones charged.
- Fill your gas tank
- Grab a case of water
- Flashlights, emergency batteries: charged
- Comfort snacks + chocolate.
- Keep your inner peace.

Being prepared doesn’t mean panicking. It just means you’re ready if you need to be.

Horicon friends: what do you need?

We’ll have the donation totes for Horicon outside Posie this morning. Visa gift cards and kwiktrip/piggly wiggly gift cards, check or cash should be brought inside rather than left in the tote. We will distribute money to the displaced and will have rakes, garbage bags, etc. for who needs them. Checks should be written to Marsh Area Chamber of Commerce. Depending on the weather, I’ll likely bring them inside this afternoon. If you need to drop something off and the doors are locked, just call, text, or message. Store phone is 920-644-2090

Horicon needs us. 🤍

A lot of us remember exactly what it felt like after the tornado last year - looking at the damage and wondering where to even start.

Today, our neighbors in Horicon are facing that same feeling. The wind was too much. It made for some horrifying damage to their beautiful downtown.

We're organizing a donation drive in Mayville to help with cleanup and recovery efforts. We'll be collecting gift cards, supplies, and monetary donations to help families, businesses, and property owners as they begin putting things “back together. You can write checks to Marsh Area Chamber of Commerce to buy supplies, gift cards, etc. We will also accept donations - but due to the potential weather tomorrow, please message us to arrange drop off or pick-up.

One thing I learned last year is that small towns show up. People brought chainsaws, work gloves, meals, supplies, and whatever else was needed. Horicon showed up for us. Let’s show up for Horicon.

All donations collected will be turned over to the Marsh Area Chamber, who will help coordinate getting them directly to the individuals, families, and businesses that need them most. Because at the end of the day, we're all neighbors. 🤍

Praying for Horicon. We are offering to be a drop off site in Mayville for any supplies donated for Horicon’s downtown and community. Water, garbage bags, work gloves, gift cards, etc. I am working with Tom at Marsh Area Chamber of Commerce for him to distribute to Horicon.

My best wishes and love to Danny Boys, the yarn shop, Josh Muche with Modern Woodman and everyone else in Horicon. We feel your pain, mourn with you and promise to help you all rebuild.

Man, between the humidity and the projected forecasts over the next 24 hours.. I sense we are all a little jumpy and feelin’ all the feels. I talked to a couple of great people at Posie today and the weather just feels a lot different today (but also maybe familiar).

I won’t keep up with these weather posts for every storm, but because of those big feeling convos this morning, I just want to gently remind you that while you should take the take the forecast seriously, don’t let it steal your peace and joy. Charge your phones, make sure you know where you’ll go if needed, top off the gas tank, and maybe grab a few comfort snacks and fill up some water bottles while you’re at it. Over prepared will bring you a little comfort - and if for some horrible reason something happens to Mayville again, you bet we will all come together again to help each other out.

Heads up and a giveaway! Posie will be CLOSED on Tuesday, June 9 while crews bring in the electrical service for the upstairs apartments. This is one of those behind-the-scenes milestones that doesn’t look very exciting from the sidewalk… but it’s a HUGE step for the project!

Next up: insulation and drywall! 🙌
