Congratulations!

Great news, Zoo Nation: HUCK FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME!!!! Here is a picture of him and his new mom, Pam. Hopefully she will share some pictures of him and his new brother!!!! We cannot say THANK YOU enough for taking this little paralyzed guy under your wing.

Hello PDR supporters. Purple Dog Rescue will be rescuing a 16 yr old neutered male mini Poodle from a local PA shelter where Meeko had been surrendered because his owner could no longer care for him. We do have a foster home lined up for him (thank you Pat). We will be looking for a new home for Meeko, preferably a quiet family where routine is the norm. We are told that he gets along great with kids, cats and other dogs. He received a dental at the shelter along with his basic vaccines and blood work. UPDATE 03/13/20: This little boys attitude has been totally readjusted in just one day. This shows me, not only how intelligent he is, but also how impressionable and willing to please he is. It also helps that he hangs with a mannered, social pack who gets to set the 'doggie' rules for him. Rascal is a different dog than the one I brought home yesterday! He also has two families interested in adoption. I'll keep ya'all posted.

UPDATE 03/12/20: After spending a few hours w Rascal, I have made a few observations. Rascal is an 8 mo old brat. He has his sweet moments so I know it is in there. Whomever fosters or adopts Rascal will need to understand correct doggie protocol in order not to ruin him. He is capable of throwing doggie temper tantrums, hence the need for understanding how to handle his personality. He has no manners, is spoiled and he is intelligent. Yelling at him will not work. You must be able to get him to do/learn your bidding and make him think it was his idea. On top of this, he is not neutered (yet). After he is neutered, 3/19, it will take another 2-4 weeks until he no longer gives off or acts as if he is driven by his male hormones. Adding to this, he is not house trained. There is no doubt this boy will be a challenge ... but I believe the challenge will be worth the effort. He quickly bonded to me and followed me around Wags today (leashed, of course). He met visitors apprehensively at first then mellowed. He just needs socialization. At 8 mo old, this little guy is well worth the effort. He may have had an undisciplined start to his life but I think it can be turned around easily.

PS: Please don't comment below about how no dog should be yelled at. We all know it happens and we all know someone who does it :(

03/02/20 UPDATE: Never mind. The caregiver gave the dog to a friend. Ditto what I said earlier on the BC fb post.
FOSTER HOME NEEDED

02/29/20 UPDATE: I was just informed that the current caregiver gave the dog to a member of her family. Thank you to everyone who helped with this boy. Believe it or not, about 80% of people who want us to take a dog will back out for various reasons. That makes life very frustrating when a rescue is 'foster' based. Sharon

FOSTER HOME NEEDED ASAP
This young man is being 'rescued' from a bad situation and PDR has agreed to take him IF we can find a foster home. He is a ~2 yr old Border Collie mix who will need neutered. (I am making the appointment today :) ) Because he is 2 and because he is a Border Collie, he is full of energy. And because of the situation he is coming from, I am not expecting him to have any manners or training. Please drop me a line if interested AND please share. Someone out there must love BC's. Spunky is a 6 yr old, neutered male, Cairn\Brussles x. He is coming to PDR from a local PA Shelter where he is not doing well. He found himself at the shelter because his elderly mom died. Because he is used to living with a senior, we are recommending he go to a quiet home where routine is the norm. If you are interested in fostering, please drop us a line. Thank you. Sharon
