Well… Purlicue Pinch apparently decided to test the meaning of “it takes a village” this weekend. 😆❤️🤠
We had TWO events happening at the same time — the For the Girls Market and The GOAT Picnic day 1 — and we had a perfectly good plan.
My daughter/Partner was going to run the Hat Bar at FTG while I sold hats indoors at the GOAT Picnic. Then she got really sick, so plans changed quickly. I headed to FTG in her place with my son, who helped me set up, while my husband and my best friend stepped in to cover the GOAT Picnic.
Unfortunately, not long after FTG started, the heat got the best of me and I ended up with severe heat exhaustion.
And this is where the story stops being about everything that went wrong and becomes a story about everything that went RIGHT. ❤️
The Grind City crew immediately came to my rescue, helped cool me down, and took care of me. One of their employees stayed right there with me until my son could come pick me up. I cannot tell you how much that kindness meant to me in a moment when I really needed it.
Then my neighbor — who had only planned to come help me later in the evening — stepped straight into the chaos and took over the Purlicue Pinch Hat Bar.
And y’all… SHE WAS A ROCKSTAR. ⭐
She absolutely killed it. She and her husband stayed until the market closed, then packed up every hat, feather, band, display and piece of my traveling circus and brought it all home.
My son came back for the tent and made sure that got home too.
Meanwhile, in Coldwater, MS, my husband and my best friend were holding down the fort at The GOAT Picnic and doing a fantastic job selling hats.
By the end of the night, Purlicue Pinch had somehow successfully been in two places at once — just not at all the way we had planned. 😂
Small business ownership can sometimes look like glamorous booths, fun markets and cute hats.
And sometimes it looks like your family, your friends, your neighbors and even complete strangers stepping in without hesitation and saying, “We’ve got you.”
I don’t have the words to properly thank everyone who helped us this weekend.
To my husband, my son, my best friend, my incredible neighbors, the FTG crew, the Grind City crew, and everyone who checked on me, carried something, sold something, packed something, or simply helped when they saw someone needed it…
Thank you from the bottom of my irregularly beating heart. (I'm good now. 😆)
Purlicue Pinch may be our business, but this weekend reminded me just how many wonderful people stand behind it.
And I am incredibly, incredibly grateful. ❤️🤠
