Kenkoy (1929), created by Tony Velasquez and Romualdo Ramos for Liwayway, is the first icon of Philippine komiks. Featuring slick hair and Americanized fashion, the satirical character satirized colonial influence and introduced the word kenkoy, meaning “joker”, into the language.

Born from roadside food stalls and eateries, the carinderia is a fixture of Filipino street culture. It’s an everyday gathering spot where shared tables bring people together over home-cooked lutong bahay.

The TeamManila Lutong Bahay T-Shirt honors these neighborhood spots and the cooks behind them. Wear it to celebrate Pinoy heritage and take a piece of home with you.
