Happy Birthday to... us!

The brand name Thorogood was created May 28th, 1918. Weinbrenner Shoe Company was founded 1892 in Milwaukee, later moved to Marshfield in 1935 and expanded to Merrill in 1936 (all in Wisconsin). Boots were made for a variety of companies before specializing in a personal brand, Thorogood.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. Their courage, commitment, and selflessness are the foundation of the freedoms we carry with us every day.
Today isn’t about sales or slogans. It’s about remembrance. It’s about gratitude. And it’s about taking a moment to reflect on the cost of freedom and the lives that were given to protect it.

On May 9, Thorogood was proud to sponsor AJ’z Steel‑Toed Footprints, a non-profit dedicated to honoring AJ Zdroik’s legacy by supporting the next generation entering the skilled trades.

Standing alongside AJ’s family to recognize hardworking students following in his footsteps was a true privilege. We were honored to support this mission by providing boots to each Jumpstart Award recipient, helping them take their next steps with confidence.

Skills don't get handed down. They’re earned. One day at a time, one task at a time, by showing up and doing the work even when it’s repetitive, unglamorous, or tough.

National Apprenticeship Week is a good reminder that every skilled tradesperson started somewhere. Learning the trade means listening, carrying, practicing, messing up, and doing it again - until it becomes second nature.

Shoutout to all the apprentices putting in the time and hard work. What you’re building now is what the rest of your career stands on.
