I’m surrounded by boxes, tools, and plumbing parts! 😵‍💫 Somedays, to be honest, it feels like we will never get there. Other days, it feels like we are rolling through the to-do list without any issues and conquering the world! Besides our quick vacation, we have lived and breathed this shop all summer!

Sunday’s message in church was a beautiful reminder that our identity as Christians should not only be reflected in the highs. Our identity as Christians is equally defined by our hearts through the valleys and the lows. Through it all, our hope remains. There should be evidence of the goodness of God in every aspect of our lives when we walk faithfully. I am far from perfect at that but, I am sure trying to be more intentional about surrendering this shop, the timeline, and my ambition to Him.

So, my hope is that we are having a soft opening in the coming weeks! But, I am not letting it control or overwhelm my heart, leaving me distracted from His goodness. I will praise God for this opportunity and His work in my life, whether I’m slinging espresso shots for folks or not. And I am praising Him for a skilled husband who is so very capable of so many different things, like plumbing in an espresso machine and bringing my vision to life. 😬

I know people are walking through things in life so much more painful and stressful than my current trek. My prayer is that you know Jesus personally, and that through that salvation, you will also know that hope remains, God is good, and He is worthy of our praise through it all.

Who’s operated one of these big ole sanders before?! I’m exhausted 😅!! But, it sure is satisfying! And will be worth it. 💪🏼

And I absolutely, 100% for sure should have been wearing hearing protection 😏….

So, when you come in for coffee (soon!!), please tell me how purdy these counters are. And speak up. 😜

PS, before you ask… I did not do the counters the first time. But, they had some imperfections, and I’ve waited too long for this shop to happen for there to be issues in my counters! So, I’m redoing them myself.

A little makeover never hurt nobody! Loving our bright, fresh look!

Working on signage and getting that jungle out front tended to. Praise God for all of the wonderful rain we have had lately!

We want to introduce you to The Duke, the namesake for the our little store!

In March of 2025, Duke became a member of our family. We all absolutely fell in love with the guy, and he quickly weaseled his way deep into our hearts and our lives. When it came time to name the store, our kids picked “Duke’s” because he has truly been such a joy and a blessing to us. Which is all we hope for our shop, that it’s a joy and a blessing to everyone who steps through the doors. We also love that it’s easy to say!

Duke is a quirky guy and full of personality. He has been in A LOT of trouble since we brought him home! But, he looks at us with those goofy, cute eyes and all is forgiven. He is smart! He learns tricks quickly and absolutely loves to play frisbee and ball. He also loves to swim! He will be a big part of our shop. We have plans for him to come visit from time to time. He will host some reading events for kids, welcome people when he is there, and be a soft ear to rub on a bad day. He won’t be allowed in certain parts of the store, of course. And, we won’t be able to welcome other dogs inside. But, we will be flexible as he gets older and we figure out a good routine.

Duke can’t wait to meet you all!

Absolutely 💯% of the time, God’s timing is protection and it’s perfect. Truly, through every trial and delay, there has been a blessings or a silver lining. It is what it is and we will get there!

We are patiently trucking forward and continue to work hard on our renovation. We will have working toilets and sinks soon! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We are really looking forward to these last weeks of school and sweet summertime!! What are YOU looking forward to?

We are way overdue for an update!! And, I’m sorry about that. Truth is I have been having a small pity party in my coffee shop but, I’m better now!
Our flooring was purchased from some people in Salado who ended up not being good people. I will spare you the details for the sake of time but basically, they put us in a big bind. Hindsight is 20/20 and lessons learned the hard way! We are good now and trucking along! Floor team will be out all next week. Internet soon. Toilets soon. We are getting there, slowly but surely! Thank you all so much for your support and patience! 🫶🏼
