Creating Art In A Form Of Fashion.
You can only improve the LAND; By improving the PEOPLE.
I was born in La Ceiba Honduras. I learned basic sewing & patter-making in 6th grade as senior school project. The Elementary School name was El JapΓ³n funded by the Japanese Government Grades 1-6.
A few years after my fatherβs death, the family relocated in Fayetteville NC and I moved to Raleigh-Durham NC to further my education. My passion for Arts and Beach Sport Activities brought me to Wilmington NC, where I began my self-taught career as Fashion Designer.
I began my self-thought Fashion Designer career by working as a volunteer at a Thrift Shop that donated their proceeds to Domestic Violence and Shelter Services of Wilmington NC.
In addition to the volunteer work at the Thrift Shop, I also purchased a few sewing and patter-making books at the local Bookstore and with my childhood experience of basic sewing & patter-making, I knew I was ready.
I began to select and utilized the donated vintage clothes as patterns, fabrics, buttons and zippersβ¦.etc, to make my 1st self-pattern garments that let to my discovery, and numerous Charity Fashion Shows.
To continue developing my Haute Couture skills I worked as a Custom Designer for a local theater in downtown Wilmington NC and Music Videos for local bands. The creative challenge of the theater was the small budget and keeping it with in the scripts of each play. To achieve a Spectacular Play and stay with in the budget, I utilized materials from local thrift stores and my Own Inventory.
I have done numerous of Charity Fashion Shows to Raise Funds & Awareness:
Show: Shop to Stop Domestic Violence Topic: Economic Empowerment Cause: Domestic Violence Shelter Services of Wilmington NC.
Show: Arts for Arts Topic: Education Cause: Kids Making It of Wilmington NC.
Show: New Deal Topic: Health Cause: Make-A-Wish America of Wilmington NC.
Show: We Festival Topic: Arts and Culture Cause: Local Artist of Wilmington NC.
Show: Green Ball Topic: Environment Cause: Cape Fear River Watch of Wilmington NC.
My passion for Haute Couture & Skateboarding brought me to NYC.
While in NYC I suffered a skateboarding injury, I tore my right knee ACL & Meniscus. To make matters worst, due to medical negligent just a few days from surgery.
I suffered Pulmonary Embolism a blood clog in the lungs. I was Hospitalized a total of 7 days. On the 5th day after a series of 2 to 3 test a day the Doctors diagnose me with Pulmonary Embolism.
I was put on Blood Thinner immediately for 6 months via pills & injections.
This meant a slow & painful recovery. Not for ME.
KINTSUGI Is an Old Japanese Art of fixing broken pottery with precious Metals & Jewels. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the beauty and history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
