Growing up in Hawaiʻi taught me respect isn’t something you say — it’s something you live.

It’s how you talk to people, how you carry yourself, and how you treat the ‘āina that feeds us.
It’s checking your ego. It’s showing up for your family. It’s representing where you’re from the right way.

That’s the heart of Ho‘ihi Hawaiʻi: revive respect — in real life, not just on a shirt.

If you were raised here (or you carry Hawaiʻi in you), you already know.
What did Hawaiʻi teach you about respect?

Three generations, one legacy. My daughter, my granddaughter, and me-this is my why.
Revive respect. Ho’ihi Hawai’i on the chest, respect in the heart.

Comfort is a killer.
If you’re not being challenged, you’re not growing.

Watching my daughter beat cancer changed everything. It made us stronger as a family… but I’ll be real: a situation like that can either make you or break you—your family, your marriage, everything.

When I got asked how we navigated it, I had to give credit where it’s due: my wife is the backbone of our home. She held it down in ways most people don’t see. My role was to stay solid and provide. We moved as a team.

And the foundation for all of it was ho‘ihi — respect.
Respect in how we talk to each other under pressure. Respect in how we show up when we’re tired. Respect for the roles we carry, and the weight each person holds.

Big lesson I learned: choosing the right spouse/partner is choosing who you’re building with.
When there’s respect, you don’t compete—you combine. You become twice as productive because you’re supported, not torn down. That’s how you build a strong family… and that same teamwork is how you build companies and wealth.

Question: What does real respect look like in a relationship to you?

Ho’ihi starts with you.

Respect yourself first. Whether it’s lifting weights, going for a walk, a run, or a swim—do something for yourself today. Your body, your mind, your spirit deserve that investment.

When you respect yourself, you show up differently for everyone around you. You bring better energy to your ‘ohana, your work, your community. That’s the power of ho’ihi.

This week’s challenge: Pick one thing—gym, trail, beach, or your neighborhood—and commit to moving your body at least 3 times. No excuses, no judgment. Just you, taking care of you.

Because when you’re strong within, you’re strong for others.

Tag us and we will repost you on our stories, all the people who tag, follow and repost this challenge will be entered into a free merch giveaway away this week. Starts today and ends Sunday, good luck Ho’ihi tribe!!!!

Wear your strength. Live your ho’ihi.
