where it started to where it is today - HAPPY SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY!! 🫶🏼
I still remember the day I had gotten my embroidery machine - at the time I was working two other jobs and came home around 11 pm. I saw it sitting there and didn’t even change out of my apron before testing it out - embroidering “ODD ONE OUT” on some of my mom’s star printed fabric. The next week, my family surprised me and redecorated my office, I had an official desk, clothing racks and inventory shelves. For the first time I looked at everything they had set up for me and thought…. This is actually happening!! Someone pinch me!!
It’s easy to see what we create or look at our posts without knowing what goes on behind the scenes - and truth be told, A LOT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES!
Ups, downs, turn arounds, high, lows, and a whole lot of WTFs… Lol.
From finding suppliers to gaining inspiration to doing my own accounting (and I am no math expert) - to making the clothes and fulfilling orders, creating content to post and keeping our website up to date - running around like a crazy person and always fighting against time - staying up until 3-4 am every night consumed by all things OddOneOut - being a full time student, working as a freelance graphic designer with 5-8 clients at a time - WHEW, do I keep going?
You could only imagine everything that goes on in a day… but one thing always stays the same. My passion and drive for doing this!! I felt like I was searching for ‘my purpose’ for the longest time - what was I put on this earth to do, how can I feel fulfilled in what I do… if you told me where I would be today like 5 years ago I would have said - YOU ARE NUTS! But here I am. And even with the ups and downs and highs and lows, stressful days and sleepless nights - at the end of it all, there is nothing else I would rather be doing.
Thank you to everyone who has been there every step of the way - for following along with me on this journey, and for being the light at the end of the tunnel that keeps me moving. I love and value each and every one of you, because you helped me get to where I am today. I hope I was able to impact your life in some way, through OddOneOut🫶🏼
