“Be Sad; Keep Going” is a powerful message that encourages us to embrace our emotions, even the difficult ones, and acknowledge that they are a natural part of the human experience. While it’s important to allow ourselves the space to feel sadness, it’s equally important to remember that tough times won’t last forever. By moving forward when we’re ready, we can find the strength to overcome challenges and grow stronger in the process.

Some reflections after being a motherless child for 9 years 🙏🏾 this was originally recorded just for myself but people expressed interest in hearing the whole clip. If you’re new to losing your mom or the loss still feels new, this video might maybe be helpful for you? Maybe. I always talk about how the “Be Sad; Keep Going” mantra has helped me but it’s really touching to hear what it’s done for others.

I love this birthday message I got from Bridget Whitaker © a few years ago and it was only fitting to bring it back again during October which is both my birthday month and the anniversary month of losing my mom.

I didn’t know my moms last words would turn into something that rests in the hearts and holes of others but I’m so grateful I’ve been courageous enough to share it.

I hope you find ways to through whatever challenges you’re facing today and hope you find ways to be well again soon enough. 💜 | mental health and wellness

This might ruffle a few feathers 🫣 because I know people mean well and NOBODY gets supporting people through grief perfect (nobody taught us how) but this saying offers me ZEROOOOOOOO comfort personally. During moments when I really would like to call my mom and go pick and snuggle my dog, as well meaning as this might be I don’t think it’s helpful (even if it’s true!) 🤧 I’d love to follow more creators who highlight “grief etiquette” so I can share with my community because I have ideas on but I’m no expert. I got some pretty cool birthday gifts this past weekend. 🎉🎉🎉

One of them was the publishing of this Canvas Rebel article talking about Marina Miranda Creative and Be Sad; Keep Going. One of the things I’m glad I got to share was how one of my favorite things about being a business owner and being in control of my time allows me to show up for my community at the drop of a dime. I love being able to control how my time is spent and use it to pour back into my community who has so graciously poured into me.

I had to repost this because it’s still so relevant. No matter what you think you see on the internet, KNOW that losing my mom has changed me forever. No, I’m not okay…I’ve just learned how to Mental Health and Wellness Enthusiast to get through it. October is both my birthday month and the anniversary of her loss so things can get tricky emotionally sometimes this time of year. This is just your reminder not to believe everything you see…check on your people.

There’s never enough conversation in this grief and loss space about the heartbreak that comes with dreaming about your loved ones who have passed. It’s so nice to be visited by them but really really really heartbreaking to realize it wasn’t real when you wake up. Funny enough, the dream came the night before I had to do a presentation about mental health stigma to kids over at Messmer High School with NAMI (hence all the things in my hand) so it was very aligned but also a moment I had to learn to Mental Health and Wellness Enthusiast through in real time. Does anybody else have a similar experience with dreams?

Thanks to this community, we passed our initial goal and raised $511.81 toward our participation in Culture in the Valley in less than a week! (It was really like two days?!? Unheard of)

We’re incredibly grateful to our four donors who helped us reach our $500 goal. Because of you, we can now cover:

🪧 Easels, poster boards + supplies
🐝 Bee/wasp repellant to keep our outdoor space safe and comfortable
