🏁 Racer Spotlight: #176 Krista Maki-Zurn 🏁
Originally from Ely, MN, Krista Maki-Zurn was inspired to race by Shawn Zurn and from watching Rachel O'Brien compete. Krista wasted no time making her mark when she started racing in 2009. In just her second season, she captured her first World Championship—and learned she had become the first female racer in IWA history to win a World Championship. 🏆
Since then, she's added three World Championship titles to her resume (2010, 2014, and 2015 in the 800 Stock Drags class) and continues to line up in Semi-Pro Stock.
Krista says the best part of Watercross weekends isn't just the racing—it's the people. ❤️ "I love racing, but honestly it's our people that make it such a good time."
She also reminds fans that Watercross is much tougher than it looks. "The course is constantly changing. Until you're out there yourself, it's hard to understand just how challenging it really is."
And when it comes to Grantsburg? 🏁 The incredible energy, the amazing hosts... and, of course... 🥙 GYROS. "I go to Grantsburg to race and eat gyros." Kosta better be ready!
