Meet the Artist: Ellie Hyde

Ellie Hyde is a kids print and pattern designer based in the fine city of Norwich, UK. She specialises in bold and bright designs that bring a smile to people’s faces. Ellie has a love of bright colours and children’s picture books which influences her work. She’s also partial to a dinosaur or two! 🦖

“I loved Peepo by Janet and Alan Ahlberg and have my copy from when I was little, that I read to my own kids. I loved the detail and spotting something different each time I read it. A new favourite from reading to my children is ‘If I Had A Dinosaur’ by Alex Barrow and Gabby Dawnay. I love the illustrations, they’re simple but have so much character and really fun details, and it’s such a lovely book to read.”

“I’m not really sure where my love of dinosaurs came from but I have really fond memories of going to the dinosaur park as a kid and walking around staring up at these huge dinosaurs. I think it really developed when I started my career as a print designer and began designing for boys. I have lots of fun designing dinosaur prints and am always thinking of new ways to draw them. Fun fact, I have a stegosaurus tattoo on my arm! Pink dino was definitely inspired by this love, like I said I really enjoy trying to draw them in different ways and for this design I wanted to keep it simple and graphic, while also being super cute!”
