Forever one of my favorite patterns. It was one of my first designs in wool applique, and I love it still to pieces! Kits are long gone, but you have some fun fall fabrics and wool scraps laying around, I know know you do!

I started designing patterns in 2007. And at that time it was all hand embroidery. Wool appliqué was hardly even a thing yet!

I actually remember when my mom introduced wool to her quilt shop. 2009 or so? It was new, exciting, GORGEOUS.

And for the past few years I’ve been designing mostly in wool. But I find that lately I miss embroidery. Specifically small projects, minimal machine work, just me and the thread.

We makers know that if we want to make gifts for Christmas, we kinda gotta start in October. At least I do. So I’m thinking ahead to some small Christmastime embroidery projects that get me back to that relaxed feeling of just needle and thread.

The lore of crows collecting things may (or may not) be true. But I love the sentiment. Over at Woolie Friends Stitch A Longs we've seen some beautiful quilt blocks featuring these birds collecting keys, charms, lockets, and stars. I decided my crow would collect the gift of a sunflower bouquet. A simple design with deep sentiment, full of fall color and fun stitching.
