Earlier this season I shared a little teaser of an ombré sample. See the end result in all its glory here!

Huge shout outs to Rachel Healey for the vision and trust, Becky Hanson for the structural engineering and head construction, and Emily Bustamante for transforming those yards of dyed fabric into something magical. It truly takes a village.

This dress took quite the journey through the dye room. First, lightening the shoulders and hem with a color remover. But in a undulating and fading manner.

Then several rounds of paint. Adding some contour. Then deeper shadows. Helping the lace and buttons stand out against the fabric. And adding a final layer of dirt and grime.

It seems excessive and even comical up close. But under stage lights every brush stroke enhances the whole.
