Delaware North workers at Target Field have been sounding the alarm about non-profits at Target Field during contract negotiations.

Now Attorney General Keith Ellison is standing up for workers!
"Charities can't do an end-run around employment law by abusing their nonprofit status to save on labor costs," Ellison said in a statement. "MNFI was a sham charity that took advantage of parents who wanted to afford their children's activities by luring them into 'volunteering' their labor in exchange for future 'grants,' which is a clear violation of Minnesota law."

A Blaine nonprofit accused by the Minnesota Attorney General's Office of illegally classifying hundreds of concession workers as volunteers instead of employees will dissolve under a civil settlement ...

"What Attorney General Keith Ellison called a “sham charity” has shut down, after claiming to employ stadium volunteers who were actually low-cost workers."

On Wednesday Delaware North workers at Target Field held a 1 Day Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike relating to this "sham charity" and we won't stop fighting until Delaware North stops committing ULPs!

MN Fundraising Initiative promised grants for school expenses but functioned as a staffing agency, supplying low-cost "volunteers" to concession stands at Target Field, US Bank Stadium and other venues.

"Unite Here Local 17, the union that represents the 500 Target Field concessions workers, says Delaware North failed to bargain in good faith by subcontracting Minnesota Funding Initiative volunteers.

The union also says the management company interrogated and surveilled workers during a strike in June, when employees walked out to fight for higher wages and better benefits."

Concessions workers at Target Field are walking out for an unfair labor practices strike Wednesday after they say their management company subcontracted union work to a "sham charity" shut down by the Minnesota Attorney General's Office.

Thanks Jason Chavez - Minneapolis Ward 9 for standing with Target Field DNC workers during their strike!! Minneapolis is a Union town!

This afternoon, I joined Target Field Delaware North Company workers at their Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike.

I was proud that the Minneapolis City Council unanimously passed a resolution urging Delaware North Company to respect the important work UNITE HERE Local 17 members do at Target Field, bargain in good faith, and agree to a fair collective bargaining agreement.

Where is Delaware North??

Local 17 offered to bargain Saturday through Tuesday in hopes of coming to an agreement and so far Delaware North hasn’t shown up!
