Swift Clothiers started as a way for me to express myself and connect with others through art and wearable fashion. I quickly realized it was also an avenue that allowed me to help others by giving back in order to make a positive difference in the world. Sometimes I think that, unknowingly, this was the goal all along.
At the heart of many of my previous initiatives has been the well-being of other people. Unfortunately, much of this has been prompted as a response to violence. This time is different.
At least 50% of the proceeds from all Swift purchases for the foreseeable future will be donated, in honor of Janaan Ahmed, to the YWCA’s Girls Inc. program as well as to Janaan’s family.
I didn’t know Janaan well, but I know enough about her to say that she was an unbelievably talented, unique, and brilliant person with just about infinite potential. She didn’t deserve her struggles and she should still be here.
Let us all remember that there can never be enough kindness, empathy, and love in this world. It will never do harm to spread it. You never know who may need it.
