Some chapters are bittersweet.

For years, our friend has been putting honey on local grocery store shelves and quietly opening doors for producers like us.

With Ernie Griffiths retirement, we are saying goodbye to the business of a local legend. This loss will leave a hole in the panhandle the size of a honey comb.

As one of Ebees Honey long-time suppliers, Mr. Griffiths has encouraged us to reach out to his local grocery stores as they find themsleves in need of a new source for local honey. We are honored by his confidence in us.

Thanks to Ernie's encouragement, and our newly inspected certified commercial kitchen, we are able to meet that need. With our honey now being approved for grocery store shelves, it allows us to serve even more local families while continuing to provide the same raw Nebraska honey you've come to know and love.

We are deeply grateful for the years we were blessed to work alongside Ebee's Honey, and for the recommendation of a man who helped make Panhandle honey legendary. No one can truly replace Ernie, but we'll do our best to carry on the tradition of providing high-quality local honey with the same care and integrity he was known for.

As we begin supplying new grocery locations, we'll continue to be right where we've always beenβ€”at our local retailers, farmers markets, and on the farm. We hope you'll join us in wishing Ernie a happy and well-deserved retirement. Thank you, Ernie, for everything you've done for our community and for believing in us. πŸ₯ΉπŸ

While it greatly saddens us to see our longtime friend Ebees Honey close their doors, we encourage any up-and-coming beekeepers to contact them about their liquidation. We will miss our meetings with Mr. Ernie and praying for them!

Ebees Honey is closing its doors. We are so thankful for each customer that has supported us over the years. You’ve made beekeeping a pleasure.

If you know of any beekeepers that might want to purchase supplies, please pass this info on to them.

For Motivation Monday let's play a fun game called "Why is Manuel Tired?" πŸ‘€

β€’Is it from all the honey butter he made?

β€’Is it from the 20+ hour drive he made to California this week?

β€’Or is it from the buckwheat honey supers he just pulled?

β€’Oooorrrr is it from my attitude? 🀣

All fair guesses.
But I believe the survey says he is tired because the drought caused him to adapt this year, which actually led to two extra honey harvests in places we don't usually have them.

See, on a normal year, bees pollinate almonds, go to orange groves to make honey, and then come straight to Nebraska.

This year, Manuel had to think on his feet to get the bees something to eat. He started out by sending the bees to the California coast for the wildflower flow, which ended quickly. So he decided to pivot, he pulled the honey, and found all new locations in the mountains. Enter buckwheat honey harvest!

Two extra honey harvests are an incredible blessing, but it is also an incredible amount of work! And all of that has to happen before honey ends up on your table 🐝 So if he looks a little worn out, now you know why!

If you have any encouraging words for Manuel, leave them in the comments! They will motivate him while he prepares bees for their THIRD harvest of the year, and I'll make sure he sees them πŸ₯°

If theres like... a wild fire sparked by fireworks today and I could only save 3 things from my house (besides my kids), it would be these 3 bags of marshmallows from Grand Republic Milling Company πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

And no shame, because if you tried the sample of them today you wont question my logic on this.

Did you know these marshmallows are made with our honey?

Anyway, they're in danger of fire alright, not wild fire, CAMP fire. Can't wait to enjoy these fluffy boys and we will definitely be snagging these up every opportunity we get!

Ya'll aren't the only ones hunting for some good eats at the farm store today. And fireworks aren't getting lit up here, but you will if you step on our scary spaghetti πŸ₯΄πŸ˜‚πŸ

Watch out for our resident mouse persuer.
Our wildlife wiggler.
Our native nope rope.
Our household pest controller.
Our roden relocation specialist.
Our live-in ground patroller.
Our neighborhood danger noodle.
Our versatile vermin vacuum.

If you're new around here, this gal has likely been here long before you have. She's the big lady in charge of the massive bullsnake nest in these parts, and her presence keeps the rattlesnakes away, so we are pretty protective of her(literally even the cat and dog like her? Which is weird but I dig it). Please don't run her over or attempt to hurt her.

This is also your very visual reminder that this is a ✨️ real farm ✨️
We may not have the corn and cows that one would usually associate with a typical Nebraska farm. But there are still animals that sting, bite, p**p, throw up and die here. It is what it is. Nature is gross, but nature is what gives us very delicious honey, so we respect it and we work around it. Please don't attempt to kill anything here (except prairie dogs, iykyk and rattlers)

All that to say, the farm store is open today (Saturday) πŸ₯° watch for wildlife!
