We’ve been trying to score a permit to backpack in Havasupai for years and finally got one this year. We hike a ton, but had never actually backpacked before. So naturally, we figured, why not make one of the best backpacking trips in the country our first?! 😂

I spent the year leading up to this trip doing A LOT of research. (Anyone who knows me, knows I like to plan ahead and be super prepared.) Between securing permits, figuring out the logistics of getting there, choosing the right gear, planning food and water, and learning the basics of backpacking, there was a lot to figure out before we even hit the trail.

Honestly, some of the most helpful resources were other people’s blogs and posts about their firsthand experiences. So I put together a Havasupai Field Notes guide with a few things I learned before, during, and after our trip that I hope will help someone else planning this hike.

🍃💨New collab alert! 🌎🌿

We’re so excited to announce that Dirt Roads Project and Burn Design Lab have teamed up to create a collection with a purpose: helping the world breathe easier. 🫶

This one means a lot to us. It started with the reason we chase adventure in the first place… to get outside and breathe a little fresh air.

However, for a lot of the world, fresh air isn’t a given. Nearly two billion people still rely on open fires for cooking, creating harmful air pollution in homes and communities around the world. The nonprofit, Burn Design Lab develops cleaner cookstoves to fix that, and their work has already improved 25 million lives across Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. These cookstoves also use less fuel, which means less deforestation and fewer greenhouse gas emissions. That’s exactly why we knew we had to team up.

Every piece in the collection was designed with that mission in mind, and a portion of every purchase from this collection goes directly to support Burn Design Lab’s work helping communities around the world breathe a little easier, every single day. �

We’re so excited to announce that Dirt Roads Project and Cabrillo National Monument Foundation have teamed up on a limited-edition collection inspired by the rugged beauty of Cabrillo National Monument and the incredible coastal landscape that surrounds it.

A portion of proceeds from every piece purchased from the collection goes directly to the Foundation, helping support the preservation and protection of this special place.

The Lofoten Islands have been on our bucketlist for years, and getting to finally explore them was pretty incredible. 🏔️

We came home with a camera roll full of photos and very tired legs. (Plus a few things learned along the way. 😉)

So we thought we’d share a few notes from the trip… our favorite hikes, what we packed, things we learned, and a few tips for anyone who currently has hiking in Lofoten on their Pinterest board. 😉
