Mount Rainer’s Paradise Glacier once featured a huge network of glacial ice caves that were a popular destination for early mountaineers. Today the glacier has receded due to climate change and no caves remain. This photo taken by Gerald Williams circa 1928 captures a group of mountaineers from the Mazamas at the entrance to one of the glacial caves.
