Yesterday, I successfully completed the Lake Charles Fire Department agility test.

I hadn’t worked out in two weeks, was running on an empty stomach, and I was the only woman out there.

Mentally and physically, I was already drained before the test even began. Not to mention, I arrived at 8 AM, waited 2.5 hours, and was the last one to go after about 10 others.

As they geared me up and placed the weighted vest on me (something I had never trained with before) I felt like giving up.

And when I came down from that nearly 100-foot ladder, exhaustion and fear made me want to walk away.

But something inside me whispered, “Keep going.”

I pushed through and finished the course in 8 minutes and 42 seconds, beating the required time of under 10 minutes.

I not only confronted my fear of heights, but I also tested the limits of my body and mind in this season of my life.

Through it all, I thought about my daughter and kept telling myself, “I have to finish this for her.”

I prayed for strength, and God carried me every step of the way.

I’m proud not because it was easy (it wasn’t) but because I refused to quit.

Even in one of the hardest seasons of my life, God reminded me that there is still strength, fight, and purpose within me.
