☀️ Sunday Funday & a Little Reminder ☀️

Today we hit pause on the hustle and spent the day simply being together.

We wandered around Frankenmuth, played at Heritage Park, watched turtles swimming in the river, spotted fish, explored River Place Shops, made music in the courtyard, played checkers with families we didn’t know, and enjoyed a completely carefree day.

No deadlines. No rushing. No stress.

The only money we spent all day was on ice cream from Zac's Fudge & Ice Cream and a couple cold drinks after our long walks before heading back to the car.

And honestly? It was one of my favorite days we've had in a long time.

As we head home to get ready for a night of baseball for Middle B, I'm feeling incredibly grateful.

Sometimes we need the reminder that some things CAN wait.

But time with your kids cannot.

They are only this little once.

And if you don't have little ones, this reminder still applies: it's okay to put yourself first sometimes. Take the day off. Go for a walk. Soak up the sunshine. Stop and smell the flowers. Pack yourself a picnic lunch. Enjoy your life.

Today I told my husband that I'm done saying:

"We'll see."
"Maybe next time."
"Soon."

Because "soon" has a funny way of turning into months or years.

The truth is, you don't have to spend money to make memories.

❤️ Parks are free.
❤️ Walks are free.
❤️ Sunshine is free.
❤️ Packing lunches is cheaper than eating out.
❤️ Looking costs nothing.

It's okay to take your kids into stores and simply browse. Tell them beforehand that you're not buying today. Look at things. Touch things gently. Take photos of their favorite items and save them for birthdays, Christmas, goals, or rewards.

Let them explore.

Let them learn that joy doesn't always require a purchase.

One of my favorite moments today came from my 4-year-old daughter this morning when I almost decided not to go because we couldn't buy anything.

She looked at me and said:

"But Mom, we don't have to buy anything?? We can just look and remember the cool things to buy another day."

Baby girl, you are absolutely right.

So I told her, "Get your shoes. Let's go enjoy this beautiful day."

And that's exactly what we did. ❤️

The laundry will still be there tomorrow.The emails will still be there tomorrow.The work will still be there tomorrow.

But today's memories only happen once.

I am so glad I said YES.

❤️ I have a feeling that a lot of other parents(and grandparents) are also going to need this reminder tonight. Please share.
