As a child, I spent many an early Saturday morning with my mom, groggily scoping out the newest yard sales with the sun barely peaking past the horizon. After a long day of driving and looting, we’d go home and look through all of our finds for the day and I felt like all was well in the world. My mom, a very talented artist herself, always taught me that everything has potential and to never spen
d money on something you can learn to do yourself. My dad was a highly skilled wood craftsman, a perfectionist, and in my eyes, and absolute genius. He taught me the importance of doing things correctly, and the worthiness of quality workmanship. It’s no wonder that between the two of them came little old me, with my outrageous desire to work with my hands, and to take something old, ugly and discarded, and make it new again. Owning my own re-purposed furniture and craft business has always been a dream of mine. I pictured myself in a quaint little shop with a workshop in back, transforming my yard sale finds, talking to happy customers and drinking coffee whenever I wanted, all of which is my idea of heaven on earth. So this is my attempt at that dream, in a much, much, much smaller scale.
