🐝 Two new bumble bee houses joined the garden today! So far we have seen two varieties of bumble bees that visit daily!!

One found its home tucked into the raspberry patch beside the rhubarb, and the other is out front surrounded by all the freshly planted flowers. 🌸💛

The kids had so much fun helping build them, and even mama robin sat nearby watching over us while we worked. 🪺🐦 It felt like one of those simple summer moments we’ll remember for a long time.

These pollinators should have plenty to explore between the flowers and the garden out back!

Now we wait and see who moves in first. 🐝✨

Kids are home for the weekend, so we spent yesterday planting flowers out front. 🌸🌿

We added some of our favorite annuals and perennials—mixing beauty, fragrance, and plenty of pollinator-friendly blooms. 🐝🦋 It’s always fun choosing plants that not only look good but also help the bees and butterflies thrive.

Now we get to watch it all grow and settle into place together. ☀️💛

June is filling up fast over here at Homemade Hinrichs… and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🌿✨

Between the gardens growing, berries coming into season, baking days, market prep, and creating all the cozy handmade things, this month always feels a little magical. 🍓🕯️

🪺 Garage nest update: we’re at 4 eggs now! 💙💙💙💙

The nest is officially full, and mama robin has settled into her rhythm—lots of coming and going as she tends to things just right. Dad is still nearby keeping his usual watchful eye. 🐦

It’s been amazing watching how quickly things progress from day to day once she got serious about nesting.

We’re still enjoying it quietly from a distance and letting everything unfold naturally.

Next milestone… hatch day 🐣🌿

🌮 Last week we tried mixing lentils into our taco meat just to see what would happen… and honestly? Nobody noticed a thing. 👀😂

With aging we have been told to cut back on eating so much meat, so this felt like a good little middle ground for our family. Still cozy taco night. Still full plates. Just stretched a little farther with some extra goodness mixed in. ❤️

Lentils are such a simple win too — they’re packed with plant-based protein, fiber, and key nutrients like iron and folate, which makes them an easy way to make meals a little more filling and nourishing without overthinking it. 🙌

Sometimes the best changes are the simple ones that don’t really feel like changes at all.

🍓🐝✨ If you’ve never stood still just to watch a strawberry patch come to life… you’re missing this kind of magic.

Happy Wednesday from the garden! The strawberry blooms are open, the bees are busy, and everything is quietly doing what it’s meant to do. It’s one of those simple, grounding moments that makes you pause and just take it all in.

Who else loves this time of year when everything starts waking up? 🌿☀️

🪺 Fun on the home front! We’ve unexpectedly become hosts to a sweet little robin family. Mama robin chose the top of our garage door opener as the perfect place to build her nest, and she now has 3 beautiful eggs tucked inside. She comes and goes throughout the day while dad keeps a close watch nearby. ❤️🐦

We set up a camera so we can quietly enjoy and follow along on this tiny adventure from a distance. And before anyone asks — robins and their active nests are federally protected, so this little family is staying right where they are. 🥰

Now we wait patiently for the next chapter… How long do you think before we have baby robins? 👀🐣

Happy Friday ☕️❤️ Orders out the door, now it’s time to enjoy coffee, a delicious homemade treat, and soak in the little moments. Not exactly a quiet morning around here 😂 but still feeling incredibly blessed and grateful for the sweet chaos!!

🎓 Another special order heading out the door tomorrow! We had the honor of helping with a graduation celebration by putting together 3 of our homemade salsas to perfectly complement the birria being served — plus 50 Cotton Candy Glitter Bombs for the lemonade bar ✨🍋💙
