But neither are ok. Neither are deserved. And neither are your fault.

For many abuse survivors we tend to blame ourselves for those actions made towards us by someone that was supposed to love and protect us.

That is the biggest confession you'll ever hear from a woman who has survived abuse.

"I am scared."

Scared to fight back, scared to leave, scared to speak up, and scared to tell her story.

But there will come a time...when she will roar!

She will break the hold he had on her and she becomes unstoppable.

If you are in the depths of it and don't know when you will ever feel the courage to speak up, know this... it does come.

Until then, take all the time you need to show yourself the love that he never could.

“How do I share a story like mine?”

I sent that text to a friend when I started thinking about what talking about my experience might do to help someone else out there.

There are parts that feel too ugly to say out loud, but I also know that I’m not the only one that has felt that way after an abusive relationship.

We often put the blame on ourselves and wonder how we ever allowed ourselves to be treated that way, but I’m here to remind you that… it’s not your fault.

The pain that was caused you, was because something unhealed in the person conflicting the pain.

You will feel whole again. Even if their goal was to break you.
