I’m really bad at posting on this page.
But since I just finished a few pairs of jeans with “original hem”, and 2 with “new hem”, I thought I should post some photos.
Some jeans work better with original hem treatment and some, because of fiber content or the shape of the leg, just work better with a new hem.
The first photo is flare jean that took nicely to an original hem treatment, which isn’t always the case it if must be shortened by a lot.
The second photo shows the top 2 pairs of jeans with original hem and the bottom pair with a new hem.
The bottom pair is a wide leg that had a very broad flair and a deep hem. These had to be shortened by 8 inches, which made the shape of the flare too rounded to use the original hem. So for this pair, I made a new hem with the same 3” depth.
