It’s surreal to think Dolly Parton is gone, but in some ways wasn’t she always larger than life? Back in our early days in business we commissioned our dear friend Adele Mildred to draw her likeness shown here. We printed her on t-shirts, sweatshirts and pillows which were the favorite of our customers. Who didn’t have a time in their life when they needed a squeeze from Dolly? We learned first hand how much Dolly was loved by the excitement people showed seeing her in our store. We loved bonding with others over Dolly.

What a heart thump it’s been scrolling through all the video clips, adages, and songs from Dolly over the last 24 hours. I’m convinced she’s a Saint, an absolute Legend and a BALLER. Trifecta of goodness. I love the story of her protecting the publishing rights to ‘I Will Always Love You’ when Elvis’s manager wanted half. Can you imagine how much of a stud you have to be to do such a thing at such a time?

Dolly was a mother figure to some of us Gen Xers, how lucky we were to have her as a role model.

One of my favorite early memories in this business is moving into our first office behind Ape Do Good Screen Printing screen printing. Whenever we were paralyzed and or doubting ourselves we would play 9 to 5 on our record player to remind ourselves that we could pour ourselves a cup of ambition and make a world for ourselves like she did.
