Handcrafts By Jennifer

Handcrafts By Jennifer We are a small quilt pattern company. A majority of our patterns use the Twister Rulers, however, we also have some other designs as well.

We have several patterns that are currently available to quilters and sewers. Right now, most of them utilitze the Twister Rulers, or the Primitive Pinwheel Tool and Primitive Pinwheel Itty Bitty Tool. In the future, we will have designs that don't use the rulers, but right now, that seems to be where interest is. We sell both retail and wholesale. Feel free to contact us if we can help you in any way.

We have been away from Facebook for quite some time. We had to take some time away for personal reasons. We are still selling patterns and hope to be back teaching a lecturing in the not too distant future. We hope everyone is working on their UFOs as well as new patterns. Happy sewing!

It’s been a while since we have been on Facebook. We hope everyone is busy working on quilts for the holidays. If you are looking for a fun tree skirt pattern, snowman, or even a candy cane to quilt, check out our designs.

Any orders placed between now and September 8th will not ship until September 9th. Since this may be an inconvenience for some, we have decided to add an additional pattern in your order (of our choosing) for free. Wholesale orders will also receive additional patterns. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for continuing to support our small pattern company.

To my fellow New England quilters: some of you may have heard a rumor (like I have), that the Quilted Crow in Bolton, MA is closing. Since I, too, have heard this rumor, and the Quilted Crow is one of my favorite quilt shops, I went to the shop today and asked Sue directly. THIS IS JUST A RUMOR!! Let me repeat that, it is just a rumor, she is not closing. At some point down the road, she may decide to retire, like we all will at some point. This terrible rumor has impacted her shop in a negative way. If you have been to the Quilted Crow, you know how welcoming and friendly everyone is there. If you hear this rumor, please help stop it. Also, please go visit Sue and her staff. She is getting new fabrics in regularly and she has both cottons and wools amongst other things. Even if you haven’t been to the shop, I encourage you to stop in. Oh, and if you are doing the All New England Shop Hop, don’t miss her shop, she is just off 495 and it is an easy on and off. Plus, you can grab a coffee next door to keep you fueled as you continue on the hop.

I know this isn’t my usual type of a post, but we don’t need rumors impacting business of a shop that is still open. Help keep our local quilt shops open by visiting them and not just buying online. After all, seeing the fabrics and touching it is far more fun than buying online. Please visit the Quilted Crow, and show that you too care about them and don’t want a rumor to hurt their business like it has been. Also, visit your local quilt shops. The owners and their staff appreciate all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I hope some of you get a chance to visit the Quilted Crow and see what an amazing shop it is.

What is under your needle? Is it a UFO? Are you working on an original design or a pattern by one of your favorite designers?

Everyone who has ever sewn has a tomato pincushion… our Grandmothers, mothers, aunts, literally everybody, and I wondered why. Well, according to folklore, people once thought the tomato was a symbol of good fortune and prosperity so when people moved into a new home they placed a tomato on the mantle. Since tomatoes are only seasonal, the ladies would create them from fabric and fill them with leaves and things from the outdoors.
During this same era the ladies did all the sewing for their families and their hand needles were very important, so they placed their important hand needle in their fabric "good luck" tomato and the tomato pin cushion was born. When I think of the pin cushion, I see my grandmother's wrinkled hands, the bright red tomato next to her, sewing away. The tomato may not bring prosperity and good fortune but it definitely has nostalgia.

Something to think about as we get ready for the holidays and give quilts as gifts. While this is calculated at $15/hr, we all know our time is worth more than that and we also know that quilting is a labor of love and no amount of money can be calculated for that.
