Being a good father...

One of the most important things to myself is being a good father. As I have navigated life, through challenges and obstacles, the one I always want on my side is my father. I strive to be this for my children. A father that is reliable, is loving, is compassionate and gracious. There for them in good times and in bad.

But...

How do I do this? So consistenly I can grade myslef and I believe so often that I am not passing. Feel like I am coming up short. Those are the moments that I turn to my father for help. My heavenly Father. I seek after how I can be more like him. For him to reveal his character and help me become more like him.

James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

That verse captures the essence of a Father who gives freely of himself, a Father who loves and a Father who is consistent.

Character traits that are Good. Because he is Good.

If you didn’t get a chance to read today’s Wednesday One you need to go check it out. As Thanksgiving is one sleep away we want to know what you’re thankful for! Share with us below in the comments! You've got a friend for life.

Who?

The Human One. Jesus. I've been lucky enough to meet him a few times. And each time he shows up that is exactly what he is to me. A friend. A brother. Someone who loves me dearly and wants the best for me.

How do you get to know him?

Read the bible...
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Pray...
Matthew 6:6 "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Be in Community...
Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."

Engage with those three things and you will be moving closer to a realtionship with Jesus. A true friend.

A Loss is a Win.
Let us stop making "Winning" the punctuation mark to a job well done. How many times have we heard stories of all the greatest lessons were learned in the moments of loss?

Today, make a commitment to change the way you view wins and losses. They both have equal value if we only choose to see it from a different perspective. Celebrate the wins. Reframe the losses. A loss is a win in the learning category.

We are Winners. Even in our Losses.

How do you measure success?

It's suuuuper easy to look around at the lives that everyone else seem to be living, and then set the bar for our own life to something not in alignment with reality. If you actually stop and do the math, the best MLB baseball hitters in the world miss more than they hit. Think about that. And then think about what "success" actually needs to look like in your life. Chances are you're doing way better than you think you are.
