Our hearts are heavy as we join the Western and team roping community in mourning the passing of Wesley Glover on September 20, 2026.
Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a legacy that changes the way we look at life. Wesley did both.
Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a baby, Wesley was once told he might not live to see his 12th birthday. But Wesley refused to allow a timeline to determine how he would live his life. He became a cowboy. He became a team roper. He became a fighter.
And to so many who knew and loved him, he became simply:
๐ง๐๐ ๐ช๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ฅ.
At 12 years old, when faced with the reality of his illness, Wesley found something worth getting up and fighting for โ roping.
For decades, he lived with challenges most people could never see. There were treatments, exhaustion, coughing, oxygen and days when simply breathing required tremendous effort.
But Wesley kept saddling up. He kept swinging a rope. He kept showing up. He kept believing.
Then came July 4, 2017 โ a different kind of Independence Day for Wesley.
He received the gift of a double-lung transplant.
Once again, The Warrior beat the odds.
But Wesley's story was never his alone.
Beside him through so much of that journey was Brandy โ his partner, teammate, caregiver, encourager and the woman who understood better than most what it meant to fight for another day.
Through her own battle with cancer and Wesley's lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis, they faced extraordinary circumstances together.
Brandy and Wesley's precious family, please know that the Western community grieves with you.
There are no words capable of filling the place left behind by someone you love. But we pray that, in the days ahead, you find comfort in knowing how deeply Wesley's life mattered.
His story reached far beyond an arena.
Every person who watched him overcome another obstacle learned something from him.
Every cowboy who saw him saddle up when breathing itself was difficult witnessed courage.
Every person facing a frightening diagnosis who heard Wesley's story was reminded that a prognosis does not get to decide how fully you live today.
And every friend who stood beside him knew the extraordinary heart behind the nickname โThe Warrior.โ
Wesley taught us something worth carrying forward:
Fight for another day.
Find something you love.
Hold tightly to the people beside you.
Believe beyond what circumstances tell you.
And while you have breath in your lungs, LIVE.
Wesley once said that he believed roping helped keep him alive โ that it was his therapy, his physical therapy and the passion that made the fight worthwhile.
Maybe that is one of the greatest lessons he leaves us.
Life isn't measured only by how many years we're given.
It's measured by what we do with them.
Wesley took years doctors once said he would never have and filled them with horses, ropes, friendships, victories, love, determination and one remarkable fight after another.
Today, the arena feels a little different.
There's an empty saddle.
A rope that won't swing quite the same.
And a cowboy whose absence will be felt by more people than he probably ever realized.
But The Warrior's story doesn't end here.
It lives in Brandy.
It lives in his family.
It lives in Chico and the friends who stood beside him.
It lives in the team roping community that rallied around him.
And it lives every time someone facing impossible odds decides:
I'm going to keep fighting.
From all of us at Tenn Texas, we extend our deepest condolences, love and prayers to Brandy, Wesley's family, his friends and everyone whose life was touched by this remarkable cowboy.
May God surround each of you with strength and comfort in the difficult days ahead.
And may Wesley's memory always remind us that sometimes the strongest warriors aren't the ones who never struggled to breathe โ
they're the ones who fought for every breath and still found a way to live.
