Sashiko jackets started getting cut out yesterday!
Just a reminder: if you need a Small, 2XL, or 3XL, tomorrow night is the cutoff. We’re only producing those sizes in the exact quantities ordered, so once the preorder closes, they won’t be available again until our next run.
M–XL are always our most popular sizes, so we’re producing extras and expect to have some availability for at least another few weeks, or until they sell out.
We’ve already sold through half of the fabric we were able to secure, and once this run is gone, we won’t be making another batch until February.
This is easily one of our favorite fabrics we’ve worked with to date. It’s substantial without being overly warm, breathes incredibly well, and gets better the more you wear it. The sashiko weave fades quickly, washes beautifully, and softens until it feels almost like your favorite sweatshirt once it’s broken in.
The weave naturally has a good amount of give, allowing the jacket to move with you and form to your body surprisingly quickly. That makes a lot of sense considering sashiko fabrics like this have their roots in traditional martial arts uniforms, where durability and freedom of movement were essential.
I’m wearing mine pretty much exclusively this fall so I can continue documenting how it fades, softens, and ages over the next few months.
