Honey bees are responsible for pollinating about one-third of the food we eat. Honey bees are super-important pollinators for flowers, fruits and many vegetables!

A single bee can visit anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 flowers while searching for nectar and pollen. 🌼💛🐝

It takes a collective effort of visiting over 2 million flowers to produce just one single pound of honey. An average worker bee only produces about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its entire lifetime.

The main honey harvest in our part of Texas typically ends in mid to late June to early July, coinciding with the end of the primary spring nectar flow and the start of the intense summer dearth.

After pulling and extracting our honey, our main tasks are ensuring our bees still have plenty of resources and space, cleaning the sticky equipment, getting the honey properly stored and ready to be bottled, processing the wax cappings and storing our honey supers so they can be reused next season!

Along with a million billion other beekeeping task, we can finally take a quick breath of relief! We are grateful for a successful 2026 honey harvest!! 🍯💛🐝
