Summer work opportunity!
We are looking for someone 18+ entry level who enjoys working outside, with plants and animals! If this would be your first time having a job, this would be a great fit for you! Please review the job posting to see if you would want to work here. Days will vary Thursday - Sunday, up to 25 hours. Pay will be $12 - $15 depending on plant knowledge. We also have an opportunity at our retail center at The District Artisan Market & Patio!
My name is Laura and I am the owner of Peacock Valley Nursery and Farm! My leadership philosophy is our employees and customers are equal. This means that I know and understand the value of communication, team work, active listening, empathy, integrity and ethics. There is no greater honor than serving my team and our customers. I do not draw pay from the nursery. My employees receive fair pay and some receive both pay and a commission on non-wholesale orders for their expertise in plants, soil and design.
About myself, I established Peacock Valley Nursery in April of 2021 to serve families, focusing on what is most important to their home, vision and our ecosystems.
I have been a job and employment coach for over 10 years, specializing in veterans transitioning for military service.
I served in the Army as a Medic from 2007 - 2013, with tours in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Afghanistan. After leaving the service, I graduated as Salutatorian from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Funeral Service Sciences in 2015, followed by Walden University with a Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership in 2017, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Industrial / Organizational Psychology from Capella University.
I currently serve as the Chairman for the Floyd County Soil and Water Conservation District, am a licensed funeral director in the State of Indiana and earned the Certified Funeral Service Professional designation.
