There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about the life I almost lived.

The fishing industry didn’t just give me a career.

It gave me a life I never thought I’d have.

When I first stepped on a boat, I wasn’t the man you know today. I was a broken kid carrying a lot of regret, a lot of shame, and more bad decisions than I’d ever admit. I had no idea that the men standing beside me were about to change the entire direction of my life.

Nobody ever sat me down and told me how to be a better man.

They didn’t have to.

I watched captains carry the weight of an entire crew without complaining. I watched deckhands work until they had nothing left, then help the guy beside them before helping themselves. I watched men whose word meant everything because it was all they had.

I spent years thinking I was learning how to fish.

I wasn’t.

I was learning how to live.

Trip after trip, those men chipped away at everything that didn’t belong. The excuses. The ego. The self-pity. They replaced it with pride, discipline, loyalty, and purpose.

They probably never realized there was a young kid standing beside them watching every move they made.

But they built me.

The man writing this exists because a bunch of hardworking fishermen took a chance on a broken kid and never even realized what they were doing.

That’s why Over The Rail Co. exists.

Not to sell clothing.

To make sure the world never forgets the people who built me.

If you’ve ever wondered why I fight so hard for this industry, this is why.

Everything good in my life started the day I stepped on that boat.

I love all of you guys more than you’ll ever know.

Thank you for believing in me at a point where I didn’t believe in myself.

This is bigger than a shirt.

We represent a way of life.

Every order helps us do what we’ve set out to do from day one—keep commercial fishing in the spotlight and make sure the people behind this industry get the respect they’ve earned.

Fishermen Live Forever isn’t just a design.

It’s our flag.

The new 3/4 sleeves are live on Shopify.

Help us carry this way of life further than it’s ever been.

This has never just been about apparel.

It’s about representing the men and women who make their living on the water. The ones who show up when the weather turns, when the work gets heavy, and when quitting isn’t an option.

Every shirt represents the waterfront.

Every bag of scallops represents the work behind it.

Thank you for believing in what we’re building.

Winner announced Wednesday.

Every fisherman knows the sound of a mayday.

It’s the call nobody ever wants to hear.

When the weather turns, when something breaks, when a man goes over the rail, or when a family is about to get the phone call that changes their life forever… these men and women don’t hesitate. They launch.

The United States Coast Guard carries a burden most people will never understand. They leave the dock knowing someone out there is having the worst day of their life, and they do everything in their power to bring them home.

Around here, we take pride in doing one of the hardest jobs in the world. But we’d be lying if we said we did it alone.

Every fisherman, every captain, every family waiting at the kitchen table sleeps a little easier knowing there are Coasties standing the watch when the rest of the world is asleep.

From all of us at Over The Rail Co., thank you isn’t enough. Thank you for the nights you spend searching while everyone else is running for cover. Thank you for answering the calls that no one ever wants to make. Thank you for giving families hope when hope feels impossible.

We hope we never have to make that call.

But if we ever do… we’re grateful you’ll answer.

📍CREW SPOTLIGHT📍HARRISON “LARRY”

Meet Harrison, better known on deck as “Larry.”

Every boat has that guy who’s willing to do whatever the job demands. No shortcuts. No complaining. Just show up and get after it.

Larry is part of the next generation of commercial fishermen, and if he’s any indication of where this industry is headed, the future is something to be proud of.

He’s earning his place the only way that matters—through hard work, humility, and pride in what he does. Around here, respect isn’t handed out because of your age or how long you’ve been around. It’s earned one watch, one job, and one trip at a time.

You can teach someone how to fish.

You can teach someone how to run gear.

You can’t teach pride.

Pride is what makes a man climb the A-Frame to grease the blocks without being asked. Pride is doing the little things right because you know someone else’s safety depends on it. Pride is understanding you’re part of something bigger than yourself.

The next generation isn’t sitting around waiting for an opportunity.

They’re getting after it.

Larry, we’re proud to have you on the F/V American Viking. Keep your head down, stay hungry, and never lose that pride in your work.

Click. Clack.

To most people, it’s just noise.

To us, every click is another chance to earn.

We’re paid by the pound.

That changes the way you think. It changes the way you move. It demands focus, precision, and the ability to perform when your body is tired and the work is far from over.

Commercial fishing has a way of attracting a different breed of human.

The kind that doesn’t need someone looking over their shoulder.
The kind that doesn’t flinch when the pressure is on.
The kind that understands providing isn’t a feeling—it’s a responsibility.

Nobody at home cares how tired you were.

They care that you came through.

So we keep cutting.
We keep producing.
We keep raising the standard.

Click. Clack.

That’s the sound of fathers providing.
That’s the sound of bills getting paid.
That’s the sound of earning every pound.

By the time we’re bagging up, there’s nothing left in the tank.

Your hands don’t close the way they did when the trip started. Your shoulders are smoked. Your back is barking. Every muscle in your body is telling you it’s had enough.

But the scallops still have to make it into fifty-pound bags.

No scale. Just experience. Thousands of bags over the years until your hands know the weight better than your eyes ever could.

This is the part nobody brags about.

No cameras. No applause. Just a crew that refuses to leave a job half done because somewhere, somebody is trusting us to bring them the best product we can.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…

I’m proud to call the men on the F/V American Viking my brothers. I’ve watched these guys dig deeper when there wasn’t anything left to give. Nobody complains. Nobody cuts corners. Everybody finishes.

That’s what separates fishermen.

When your body’s done… your character clocks in.

That’s what built this industry.

And that’s exactly what Over The Rail will always stand for.

A lot of you have asked me to slow it down…

This one’s for you.

What you’re watching isn’t just someone cutting scallops. You’re watching a skill that was handed down from one fisherman to another.

My Uncle Robby taught me this.

Not with a speech. Not from a book. Standing shoulder to shoulder in the box, one scallop at a time. He taught me that every cut matters. Respect the product. Take pride in your work. Slow is smooth. Smooth becomes fast.

Years later, my hands still move the way he taught them to.

He’s no longer here, but every trip, every watch, and every scallop I cut carries a piece of him with me. That’s how this industry survives. Knowledge isn’t buried with the men who built it. It’s passed down through their hands into the next generation.

So when you watch this in slow motion, you’re not just watching me.

You’re watching my uncle’s legacy.

A salute to every hardworking man and woman who leaves the dock, risks it all for a paycheck, and to every old-timer who took the time to teach someone coming up behind them. Your work lives on long after you’re gone.

Everybody wants the thick gold chain. The big paychecks. The nice truck.

Funny how nobody wants the hands that come with them.

Everybody wants fisherman money.

Nobody wants to stand in the box.

Nobody wants to spend twelve hours with a knife in their hand cutting scallops until their fingers are split wide open. Nobody wants the salt working its way into fresh cuts. Nobody wants hands that never seem to heal because there’s another trip, another pile, another watch.

They see what you’ve got.

They never see where you got it.

It wasn’t earned in an office.

It wasn’t earned behind a desk.

It was earned in the box.

That’s where the truck came from.

That’s where the chain came from.

That’s where every dollar came from.

These hands aren’t worn out. They’re paid in full.

Over The Rail Co.

Earned in the box.
