The Difference Between a Coach and a Mentor (And Why It Matters for Your Business)

A lot of women hire coaches when what they actually need is a mentor. Here's the distinction, and why it changes everything.

1. A coach asks you questions. A mentor gives you the map.
Coaching pulls answers out of you. That works when you already have the pieces. But if you're missing the structure entirely, you don't need more questions. You need someone who's already walked the road to hand you the blueprint.

2. A coach works around your current model. A mentor rebuilds it with you.
If your offer, pricing, or positioning is broken at the foundation, no amount of accountability check-ins will fix it. A mentor will sit in the mess with you and rebuild the structure itself.

3. A coach measures progress by activity. A mentor measures it by alignment.
Busy isn't the same as built. A mentor will tell you when the activity you're proud of isn't actually moving you toward the assignment.
