What an honor to dress Chef Serigne Mbaye for such a special New Orleans night.
At the North America’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony , hosted here in our city, Dakar was named No. 4 in North America and Best Restaurant: South USA 2026. A huge, deeply deserved recognition for Serigne and the entire Dakar team.
For the evening, we made him a riff on the classic tuxedo: black wool trousers, a crisp white shirt with our mother-of-pearl studs, our handmade-in-Italy bow tie, and a dinner jacket in an Ariston fabric with a golden-mustard bouclé. The fabric felt like a subtle nod to the warmth, depth, and beauty of his food.
